Regarded as one of Scotland’s grandest Edwardian country homes, Pollok House offers peace and tranquillity, a stone’s throw from Glasgow city centre.
The ancestral home of the Maxwell family since the 13th century, the current Pollok House was built in 1752 and extended in 1890. It’s famous for its striking Georgian architecture, luxurious Edwardian furnishings and world-famous art collection, including masterpieces by El Greco, Blake and Murillo.
Venture below stairs where the extent of the tiled passageways is an eye-opener to the scale of work it took to run this magnificent stately home. In Pollok’s heyday there were 48 household members of staff to look after just 3 members of the family. The house was famed for its unparalleled hospitality.
With beautifully manicured gardens and sweeping staircases, Pollok House offers the perfect setting for intimate weddings, corporate entertaining and private parties.
For larger wedding receptions and events, marquees can be erected on the south lawn, with Pollok House and Pollok Country Park providing a spectacular backdrop.
