Our winter places

A red squirrel stands on its hind legs, with its ears pricked, looking at the camera. It is standing on a branch thickly blanketed in snow.

We can’t wait to welcome you to our places this winter.

This winter, many of our places remain open, so you can experience great days out with family and friends.

Pull on a warm coat and pair of boots, and get exploring some of Scotland’s most beautiful landscapes, enjoying the clear views that the winter light often brings. And then relax in one of our many cafés and tearooms – the perfect post-walk treat.

And if the weather is just too dreich? Not to worry – we have lots of cosy castles, houses and museums to explore, to fill your days with delightful discoveries.

Please note that various opening times/days apply to each property. Follow the link beside each property name to plan your visit and find the full list of opening times/days, as well as planned Christmas closures.

All our buildings and gardens are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, and the vast majority are closed on 2 January as well.

Winter opening runs from late October/early November until March 2026.

Don’t forget: if it’s an outdoor adventure you’re looking for, our countryside places are open all year round!
