Our people

Beautiful places only stay beautiful because of the hard work of thousands of dedicated people.

The Trust is its people – 380,000 members are directly represented on our Board of Trustees and nearly 4,000 volunteers do everything from guiding visitors to tending gardens and building upland footpaths.

Our expert staff make sure that all visitors can expect a fascinating experience and that the highest standards of conservation are applied.

President and Vice Presidents

The Trust’s President is an ambassador for our charity and helps us to tell people about the important work we do.

Trustees and Governance

Our Trustees are responsible for the Trust’s strategic direction and for representing our members in decision making.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of the Chief Executive and the four operational Directors responsible for day to day management of the Trust.

The National Trust for Scotland’s operational leadership is provided by the Executive Committee.

Our volunteers

Every year 4,000 enthusiastic volunteers donate their time to projects, properties and events with the National Trust for Scotland.
