Enchanting forest, magical waterfalls and secluded folly

Venue overview

Idyllic outdoor wedding venue

For a wedding venue with a difference, the Hermitage, in Highland Perthshire, offers a unique and magical setting for religious, civil and humanist ceremonies, as well as traditional hand-fasting ceremonies.

Choose your favourite spot in this woodland idyll, whether on the historic arched bridge spanning the River Braan or in a secluded glade, and you’ll truly feel blessed by Mother Nature, under the cathedral-like canopy of some of Scotland’s tallest and grandest trees.

Overlooking the dramatic Black Linn waterfall, Ossian’s Hall is an 18th-century folly built for the 2nd Duke of Atholl. It offers an all-weather location for a small wedding ceremony or celebration and, from the balcony, boasts stunning views of the river twisting and cascading downstream.

The opportunities for gorgeous wedding photography are endless, with picture-perfect views every way you turn.

Well-maintained paths provide excellent access throughout the Hermitage. All-ability access is available to Ossian’s Hall and, by prior arrangement, the wedding party can travel as far as the Hall by car or horse-drawn carriage.

There’s a wide range of accommodation and restaurants in nearby Dunkeld and Birnam, with additional capacity available within 15 miles, at Perth and Pitlochry.
