GUIDED TOURS

Access to the house is by guided tour only. One of our experienced tour guides will show you around, bringing the building and the history of its inhabitants to life. Admire the original features that include winding stone staircases and windows without glass, and witness Scotland’s astonishing style of interior design from 400 years ago.

Look out for our special tours which delve into specific parts of the house’s history in more detail.

The maximum number of people on a tour is 14.

Please book your place by popping into the property during shop opening hours or call 0131 226 5856. We recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

We’re able to offer Spanish and Italian tours by request. Please contact us on 0131 226 5858 to arrange one of these.

HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION

Situated at the heart of the Old Town, guests in the Gladstone’s Land holiday apartments can soak up the atmosphere of historic Edinburgh while enjoying one of the best addresses the city has to offer. The Harrison, Gladstone and O’Neill flats are a great base for exploring the city and further afield. Forming an essential part of Edinburgh’s Old Town silhouette, the flats sit on the second and fourth floors of the property and provide a cosy escape from the bustling city below.

SHOP

The Gladstone’s Land gift shop stocks a large selection of locally sourced and handmade items, including our exclusive National Trust for Scotland range of bespoke tartans. The shop itself has a long trading history, having been a retail outlet for 400 years. It was initially rented by John Riddoch, who sold a range of luxurious items including silks and spices – an ethos we still adhere to today.
