Staffa National Nature Reserve
We are sorry to confirm that a kittiwake from Lunga in the Treshnish Isles has tested positive for avian flu. It has been a small, contained outbreak and doesn’t appear to have spread to other species of seabird. Please do not touch any bird, whether dead, alive or one that is behaving strangely. Please do not pick up feathers or eggshells.
Things to do
NATURE SPOTTING
Experience the amazing sounds in the natural temple of Fingal’s Cave and then, in summer, watch the antics of the puffins that nest in burrows on top of Staffa’s high cliffs. If you sit patiently, they’ll come right up to you.
Walk to the highest point of Staffa and enjoy the panorama of Hebridean islands in a sparkling sea. Remember to keep your eyes open for whales, dolphins or basking sharks!
