Broughton House & Garden

Living museum dedicated to the work of artist E A Hornel. Pink Georgian house exterior with sumptuous Edwardian interiors. The gallery room is a real highlight with mahogany panelling, Parthenon frieze (inspired by the Elgin marbles) and an ornate fireplace. Outside is a mature garden full of Edwardian charm, featuring a pond with stepping stones, wisteria-covered paths and views of Kirkcudbright harbour and the River Dee. On-street parking is available outside the house (although the High Street can be busy); further parking is available around the town and in nearby car parks.
