Planning your visit

All vehicles must be parked in the lay-by on the public road.

You will need to walk 500m each way to the Mausoleum, and you will need to open and close three gates in quick succession. Please leave all gates as you find them.

There are a number of houses on the estate that are private premises. Please respect the residents’ privacy when passing the houses.

All cyclists should dismount to pass the houses.

All dogs must be kept on a short lead (less than 2m) when passing the houses due to free-ranging poultry.

Please take all rubbish home with you.

The nearest public toilets are by the bus shelter in the village of Salen, 3 miles from the mausoleum.

For more information about planning your visit, please see our frequently asked questions.
