As spring approaches and we start to dream of longer, warmer days, our wedding teams are busy planning in our beautiful historic gardens.

Secret gardens hidden behind stone walls, sweeping staircases, colourful flower beds and even palm trees – our gardens offer the perfect backdrop for outdoor weddings. From ceremonies and drinks receptions to marquee and tipi receptions, we’ve got it covered. All you need to do is find the perfect spot!

What’s more, by choosing a Trust venue for your wedding you’ll be supporting our vital conservation work to help us protect Scotland’s heritage for current and future generations to enjoy.

Here are a few of our favourite garden venues:

Threave Garden & Estate, Castle Douglas

Threave is a large and colourful garden, divided into a series of ‘garden rooms’. Each has their own style and design, including a rose garden, walled garden and rockery. Throughout spring, the lawns are carpeted with over 200 varieties of daffodil, and by summer the flowering shrubs are in full bloom, both offering a picturesque setting for your outdoor wedding.

Greenbank Garden, Glasgow

Located in the bustling Southside of Glasgow, Greenbank Garden is a secret oasis of colour and tranquillity, surrounded by tall swaying beeches and wildflower meadows. Manicured lawns, sundials, sculptures and fountains create a romantic setting for outdoor weddings. Or why not create a ‘festival feel’ with tipis and food trucks, and host a wedding your guests won’t forget!

Pollok House, Glasgow

Set at the heart of picturesque Pollok Country Park, Pollok House is a grand country house on the outskirts of Glasgow. A highlight for many couples is the private Parterre Garden, accessed directly from the Library. Sip champagne and take in the views to the river, whilst the grand piano plays gently in the background.

House of Dun, Montrose

House of Dun is a grand Georgian mansion set amid glorious Victorian gardens, expansive parkland and beautiful woodland, as well as enjoying wonderful views of the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve. From the Grand Saloon, with its ornate plasterwork, guests are led out to the beautiful walled garden, where herbaceous borders and an intricate pavilion structure create a natural outdoor wedding aisle and altar.
