Tasty Christmas recipe – haggis sausage rolls

Follow these 6 simple steps to make yummy sausage rolls with a Scottish twist, great nibbles for a Christmas party.

Ingredients

500g haggis

300g good quality pork sausage meat

2 tbs chopped parsley

640g puff pastry – 2 sheets ready rolled, divided in two lengthwise

4 tbs Dijon mustard

2 eggs, beaten to glaze with 2 tbs water

Poppy seeds to scatter


Method

1. Mix the haggis and sausage meat together in a metal bowl, then add the chopped parsley.

2. Spread the mustard onto the pastry sheets.

3. Divide the filling into 8 sausage-shaped portions.

4. Lay the fillings on the pastry sheets and roll the pastry around the filling so the seam is underneath, then trim.

5. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Chill for 20 minutes.

6. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Slice the rolls into desired length (approx. 5cm) and cook for approx. 25 minutes or until golden and cooked through. Cool for 5 minutes and serve.
