Finding the perfect gift can be a challenge, and after COP26 we’re all thinking more about how our choices affect the world we live in. Here at the National Trust for Scotland, we’ve put together a beautiful selection of gifts that are sure to make your loved ones AND the planet happy.

Christmas cards

All the National Trust for Scotland’s Christmas cards this year are glitter- and plastic-free. The planet (and your carpets!) will thank you.

The Little Green Paper Shop has created some seed-embedded cards, which can be soaked in water and planted after the festive season comes to an end.

You can also purchase cards which have been produced by the team at Robert Smail’s Printing Works. Your card can help keep Scotland’s printing heritage alive.

Siabann soaps and beauty

Plastic-free and gorgeously scented, Siabann (the Gaelic word for soap) products make a perfect stocking filler or Hanukkah gift. Their shampoo bars and lip balm tins will cut down on single-use plastics – an important step to protect our seas.

Pinewood Conservation gin

Pinewood Conservation gin is flavoured with botanicals which are foraged in the Cairngorms. This beautiful part of Scotland is home to golden eagles, red squirrels and pine martens. Every delicious sip of your gift will remind you that your purchase has helped us to care for the gorgeous pinewoods of Mar Lodge Estate in the Cairngorms, supporting our work to restore them to their former glory.

This pretty calendar is two gifts in one, thanks to a collaboration with The Little Green Paper Shop. The paper is embedded with seeds; once you’ve finished the month, you can soak the page in water and the seeds will sprout! There are different seeds contained in each month’s page – from tomatoes to chamomile to wildflowers. Give the gift of planning AND a bountiful garden!
