Dollar Glen route back on track as bridge reopens
Due to the extent of the repairs, the bridge at Dollar Glen has been closed for several years, rendering the path that runs along the east side of the gorge unsafe and inaccessible to visitors. Many tonnes of materials were transported in and out of the glen during the bridge repair, at a cost of approximately £130,000, funded by the Trust's central fund. The bridge was officially reopened this month by Councillor Dennis Coyne, Stuart Brooks, the Trust’s Director of Conservation & Policy, and Helen Costin, Community Ranger at Dollar Glen.
Helen Costin, Community Ranger at Dollar Glen, said: ’The bridge restoration is the final piece of Dollar Glen’s puzzle, connecting the east and west sides of this unique glen so visitors can access its popular circular route again. People have been walking the east path for many decades, so we’re very pleased to welcome people into the heart of the glen once more.’
