It leads on developing conservation and management policies and acting as an advocate for conservation with public bodies.

The Chief Operating Officer oversees all Trust places. Built heritage properties are organised in six regional groups, each led by a General Manager. The national Natural Heritage division is led by the Head of Natural Heritage. The Operations division also contains specialist support services, as delivered to properties by Heritage Services & Consultancy and Enterprises & Estates.
