Teachers’ Virtual Visit: Culloden Battlefield

Date: Wednesday 12 November 2025

Time: 4–5.15pm

Location: Online (link will be shared on booking)

Suitable for: Secondary History teachers covering Jacobites with BGE, Nat Qualification or Higher/AH classes

Join us on a virtual visit to Culloden Battlefield in this teachers’ CLPL session. This unique immersive experience will take you across the battlefield without leaving your classroom, with the opportunity to explore digital 3D models of key objects from the battle. You’ll be able to delve into the last battle in the Jacobite rising and ask our expert team the questions you’ve always wondered about when teaching the topic.

We are exploring how to develop this interactive format into a bookable session for school groups, bringing the experience of the battlefield directly to your classrooms. We will therefore also ask for your feedback as part of the session.

To participate, you will need an internet connection and a screen. You do not need a webcam or a microphone. Ideally, we’d like you to use an in-school device to access the session, to allow us to test for any potential technical barriers. It may be useful to also have a personal device to hand.

Bookings close on 5 November. We will send out joining instructions after this date.
