Alloa Tower is the largest, oldest keep in Scotland. It was the ancestral home of the Erskine family, the Earls of Mar and Kellie. The Erskines were loyal supporters of several Stuart monarchs who spent part of their early lives in Alloa Tower, including Mary, Queen of Scots and James VI and I. As the family rose to prominence they played a little known but important part in many episodes of Scottish history.

Today, Alloa Tower is a beautifully restored and furnished tower house. It contains several rare medieval features, including the original oak-beamed roof and an original dungeon.
