The herbaceous border runs down the middle of the main garden area. It has been used from the mid-1970s as a cutting bed for dried flowers. We have recently cleared it due to a bindweed problem and redesigned it as a bed of two halves – one half with hot colours and the other with cool colours – with all the plants chosen for either cutting or drying use, in addition to an ongoing collection of dahlia varieties, which put on a colourful show from July through to the end of October.
