Step into our exhibition room and journey back in time with the original 1904 Peter Pan costume. Hand-sewn from leather and fabric, this iconic piece with applique leaves on both costumes holds a significant place in theatre history. The back originally featured a gap to accommodate the flying wires, a testament to the costume's role in bringing the beloved character to life.
Pauline Chase wore the leather costume for six seasons, and Jean Forbes-Robson, who played the part from 1927–39, wore the fabric one.
J M Barrie wore this blue velvet suit when he was invested with the Order of Merit in 1922.
