Take a walk to the viewpoint to see the Glenfinnan Viaduct and marvel at the sight and sound of the Jacobite steam train crossing its 21 arches. Made famous by the Harry Potter films as the ‘Hogwarts Express’, the steam engine makes its journey from Fort William to Mallaig following the Road to the Isles, travelling over this awe-inspiring 30m-high structure. Built in the 1890s, the viaduct is the longest structure on the line and provides a dramatic backdrop to the iconic Glenfinnan Monument. The train stops at Glenfinnan railway station (not National Trust for Scotland), which is just over a mile away from Glenfinnan visitor centre.

You might also be lucky enough to spot some of Highland Scotland’s shyest wildlife here – red deer and maybe even eagles soaring on high.
