Facilities & access

We have an ongoing programme of accessible content development. We have created a detailed Accessibility Guide for Priorwood Garden to assist with your visit.

We’d love you to visit the Euan’s Guide website to review the accessibility of Trust places and tell us (and others) what’s good and where we need to do better.

3G/4G coverage

A ramp gives access to the garden, where there are gravel paths, grass surfaces and level ground.

Dogs are very welcome in the garden – we ask that they are kept on a lead at all times.

We have three holiday properties in Melrose:

Pear Cottage (sleeps 2)

Harmony (sleeps 15)

Harmony Cottage (sleeps 4)

Booking a holiday with the National Trust for Scotland helps us to protect this special place, now and for the future.

There is limited on-street parking near the garden.

There are three picnic tables at Priorwood Garden, a small table and chairs, plus other bench seating.

Wander past herbaceous borders and herb gardens before ambling around the tranquil orchard and the woodland area, where shade-loving plants and hardy shrubs thrive.

Sniff out the scented blooms which are used to make pot pourri.

Look out for four wrought-iron inserts in the garden wall, beautifully decorated with mulberries and thought to be the work of either Robert Lorimer or Edwin Lutyens.
