Lochlea Free Prize Draw – Terms & Conditions
General
1. All proceeds from the Prize Draw go to the National Trust for Scotland (Registered office address: National Trust for Scotland, Broadstone, 50 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh EH12 9LD; Registered Charity No. SC007410).
2. The closing date for the prize draw is 23 April 2026 and the winner will be drawn on 24 April 2026.
3. You represent and agree that:
- you are 18 years of age or over.
- you are a resident of Great Britain or Northern Ireland.
- you will not buy or purport to buy an entry to this Prize Draw on behalf of anybody under the age of 18.
- you will provide accurate entry information (including your name, personal address, telephone number and email address) and accept that it is your responsibility to keep us informed of any changes as soon as they arise.
4. You agree that you shall not be entitled to receive any prize if you are unable to substantiate to the Promoter your representations under paragraphs 3 (a), (b) and (c) above.
5. Staff members of the National Trust for Scotland are not permitted to enter the draw. Friends and family of staff members are permitted to play.
6. You accept that we may be unable to provide refunds or replacements once you have purchased your Prize Draw entries.
7. There is a maximum of 30 paid entries per person.
8. The prizes for the Lochlea Free Prize Draw are advertised on the National Trust for Scotland website. There are no alternatives to any prize, and no interest is payable. The winner will be notified within 14 days of the draw.
9. The Promoter may (without giving any reason or notice at its absolute discretion) decline to accept an application, cancel an existing subscription, or terminate or suspend the prize draw.
10. The Promoter will conduct the Lochlea Free Prize Draw on Friday 24 April 2026. The draw will be made utilising a Random Number Generator (RNG) that has been tested and approved by an independent, Gambling Commission-approved, third-party test house.
11. The winning number will be available via the helpline from the following working day. Please telephone 0131 458 0431 (Monday–Friday 9am–5pm).
12. The Promoter reserves the right to use the winner’s name for promotional purposes. These will be only in summary, for example Mr McDonald from Glasgow.
13. No liability is accepted for:
- any loss or damage, including the right to receive a prize, suffered by any participant if they have not complied with these terms and conditions or any relevant participation instructions
- the loss, theft or delayed receipt of any communication or entry, or which is damaged or illegible, from which the participant or winner cannot be identified or which has insufficient postage (proof of posting is not proof of receipt)
- any late bank payments
- the National Trust for Scotland’s failure or inability to contact a participant and/or award any prize due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details provided, or a participant’s failure to update these if they change
- loss or damage incurred by any participant in connection with their participation in the Prize Draw or their use of any prize including but not limited to direct, indirect and/or consequential loss or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the prize or any part of it
- any interruptions or errors on or to the website; technical hardware or software errors; or failures or lost, faulty or unavailable network connections
- any failure or delay beyond the National Trust for Scotland’s reasonable control
14. The National Trust for Scotland is not liable in contract, delict (including but not limited to negligence) or otherwise in connection with the Prize Draw for loss of revenue, contract, profits, anticipated savings or loss of data, any special or indirect or consequential losses or any loss of goodwill or reputation. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall limit the National Trust for Scotland’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, fraud or for any other matter for which liability may not be limited by law.
15. All warranties, conditions or guarantees relating to the Prize Draw made by or on behalf of the National Trust for Scotland, whether express or implied by law and in the course of dealings or otherwise, are excluded to the maximum extent permitted by law.
16. The Promoter’s decisions made pursuant to the Rules shall, once made, be final and binding.
17. You may enter the Prize Draw for free by complying with the following conditions:
- Send your entry by pre-paid first- or second-class post to the Promoter at the following address: National Trust for Scotland, Broadstone, 50 South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh EH12 9LD.
- Hand-delivered entries will not be accepted and will not be entered into the draw.
- Include with your entry the following information:
- your full name
- your date of birth
- your postal address
- a contact telephone number
- email address
Incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified.
18. You may make up to 30 free entries. However, each free entry must be submitted and posted to the Promoter separately. Bulk entries in one envelope or on one postcard will not be accepted as multiple entries and if a bulk entry is received, it will be counted as one single entry.
The prize
Included in the prize is:
- Your cask: the contents of a first fill bourbon barrel, holding approximately 200 litres of whisky.
- Certificate of ownership
- Storage in on-site warehouse and insurance included for 10 years
- Private all-access tour of Lochlea Distillery by appointment (not open to the public)
- Samples of maturing liquid on request at standard rate (max 1 per year)
- Advice and contacts provided for bottling, labelling, duty, tax etc when required. If the winner decides to bottle and sell the cask then they will be liable for any tax and duty costs incurred.
- Invitation to future Lochlea site events
- Distillery buy-back option after 10 years if preferred. At time of competition this will not incur any tax costs but this can be changed by HMRC – please see Lochlea’s full T&Cs for more information.
- A family ticket to Robert Burns Birthplace Museum (valid for a year, for two adults and two children)

The completed, signed and countersigned Lochlea Cask Order Form (to be completed and submitted by the winner) together with the Lochlea Terms and Conditions comprise the contract for the acquisition of the right to the contents of the cask of whisky.
The prize is provided by Lochlea Distilling Company Limited, a company registered in Scotland under company number SC533717 whose registered office is at Lochlea Farm, Lochlea Distillery, Craigie, South Ayrshire, Scotland KA1 5NN.
The Terms and Conditions of ownership of the cask contents are set out in the Lochlea Terms and Conditions. The prize constitutes a direct contract between the winner and Lochlea Distilling Company Limited. The National Trust for Scotland is not responsible for any failure by Lochlea Distilling Company Limited to perform the said Terms and Conditions or for any loss or damage arising from the provision of the prize by Lochlea Distilling Company Limited.
