Accommodation details

Upstairs there are two bedrooms with bunk beds (1 four-bedded and 1 six-bedded), two shower rooms, both with a WC and one also with a bath. Downstairs there’s a large dining kitchen with two ovens/hobs, a comfortable lounge with wood-burning stove, another WC, and a laundry and drying room. There’s also a stone firepit in the grounds.

Due to our remote location, we have an honesty shop selling the basics for a meal. There are no grocery shops in Rowardennan and eating out options are closed during the winter months, so if you’re walking the West Highland Way between November and March we can do a shop for you so you have what you need for meals or packed lunches, etc.

Regional information

Ben Lomond is one of Scotland’s best-known mountain landmarks and attracts walkers, climbers and nature lovers in all seasons. Pine martens, red squirrels, ptarmigan and black grouse are all regularly seen here, as well as a wealth of other wildlife.

Rising from the east shore of Loch Lomond to a height of 974m, Ben Lomond offers exhilarating walking and spectacular views across Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and central Scotland. It’s the most southerly Munro and one of the most popular due to its accessible location.

The Ardess Hidden History Trail is a 1-mile circular walk through the natural oak woodland behind the bunkhouse, and is perfect for families. The landscape is significant for its cultural heritage, with an archaeological record of an extensive population living across the lower slopes of Ben Lomond into the post-medieval period.

Further information about Ben Lomond and the conservation work we carry out here is available from the ranger.
