    • The battle site of Glen Shiel is the only battle site in Scotland with upstanding remains of constructions associated with static positions prepared in advance of fighting on the day, as a result they are a scheduled ancient monument
    • A designated National Scenic Area indicates that the landscape is of national significance
    • The Kintail Ranger Service offers a number of outdoor activities, some of which are run out of our own Outdoor Centre. These include sea kayaking taster days, beginner and intermediate sea kayaking courses, low-level guided walks, and high-level guided walks to the Falls of Glomach and across the famous ridge of the Five Sisters of Kintail.

Kintail is a wild landscape with exceptional mountain scenery, which includes the magnificent ridge of the Five Sisters. It consists of montane habitats and species that are typical of the area as well as a coastal fringe where there is considerable evidence of a settled landscape, reflecting people’s use of the area over more than five millennia.
