Getting here

Kintail is 16 miles east of Kyle of Lochalsh, just to the north of the A87.
Address Kintail Morvich Farm Inverinate, near Kyle of Lochalsh Ross-shire IV40 8HQ

For the Kintail ranger office at Morvich: turn off the A87 at Ault a’Chruinn and follow signs for the Morvich Caravan Club Site, which is located next to us.

Citylink buses drop off at Ault a’Chruinn on their Inverness–Uig and Glasgow–Uig services.

Planning your visit

Kintail is in the north-west Highlands, on the Scottish mainland near to the Isle of Skye. It’s around 90 minutes’ drive from Inverness and Fort William.

The National Trust for Scotland has bunkhouse accommodation at the Kintail Outdoor Centre and holiday cottages at the nearby Balmacara Estate.

All visitors should act responsibly and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.

Visitors wishing to fly drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (for amateur or professional purposes) at National Trust for Scotland properties must first obtain permission to do so. Please email kintail@nts.org.uk or call 01599 511231.

There is no mobile phone coverage available in the more remote areas.

Sea kayaking taster days

Dates between 1 April–31 October

We offer a choice of venues for our sea kayaking taster days, including Plockton, Dornie, Kyle and the Isle of Skye.

Taster days give first-time paddlers the opportunity to gain basic skills before exploring these beautiful areas, with the possibility of spotting amazing wildlife including otters, seals and maybe even a sea eagle.

  • The walks and trails at Kintail & Morvich are not suitable for wheelchairs.
