Enjoy a real mountain experience in search of upland wildlife and spectacular views. The route takes us past Grey Mare's Tail to Loch Skeen, then round the tops to White Coomb, the highest point in Dumfriesshire. A good level of fitness is required for this high level walk. Grade: hard

Sunday 29 July: 10am Grey Mare's Tail car park, numbers are limited so online booking is advised.

Duration: 6-7 hours

Cost: adults £15, children £10 (must be 12 years or older)

Bring: sturdy walking boots, gaiters (recommended), waterproof jacket and trousers, spare warm clothing (e.g. fleece), walking poles if you use them, suncream, hat, gloves, plenty to eat, water (minimum 2 litres).
