Details

The National Trust for Scotland holds tens of thousands of photographic images related to dozens of properties in our collections, from 19th century glass plates and prints to modern slides. The Morton Photographic Project has spent the past few years digitising, cataloguing, researching and raising the profile of these collections. Over the past few months, the focus of the project has been on the photographic albums of Brodie Castle. These albums, produced from the 1860s into the first decades of the twentieth century, offer a glimpse into the personal lives and interior worlds of aristocratic women, such as Violet Hope Brodie. Lily Barnes, the Morton Documentation and Digitisation Officer, will share images and stories from this fascinating collection, and explain why this work is so important to the preservation of Scottish heritage.
