Many of our places are still open

Here’s our guide to which of our places are open, helping you make the most of the shorter days. And remember … our beautiful countryside places are open every day, all year round.

Over 40 of our places are open for you to enjoy!

Please adhere to local restrictions as set out by the Scottish Government when visiting our places, and check individual property pages for more information (including opening times) before you set off.

Drum Castle – grounds daily (castle, kiosk and play park open Saturday & Sunday; Garden of Historic Roses closed)

Leith Hall – garden & grounds

Mar Lodge Estate – estate and car parks

Pitmedden Garden – grounds only (garden, museum and shop closed)


Barry Mill – grounds

Arduaine Garden – Saturday–Wednesday (closed over Christmas period)

Crarae Garden – Thursday–Monday (visitor centre, shop and café remain closed)

The Hill House – daily until 19 Nov, then Saturday & Sunday until 20 Dec

Ayrshire & Arran

Brodick Castle, Garden & Country Park – garden & country park daily (castle, shop and play park closed)

Culzean Country Park – gardens, country park & Home Farm (Thursday–Monday)
Due to Tier 4 restrictions, the country park will be open (with takeaway catering available) to local visitors only from Saturday 21 Nov until Friday 11 Dec


Robert Burns Birthplace Museum – daily (closed 25 & 26 Dec and 1 & 2 Jan)
Due to Tier 4 restrictions, closed Saturday 21 Nov–Saturday 12 Dec

Dumfries & Galloway

Broughton House & Garden – garden open Thursday–Monday; house open at weekends (closed mid-December–mid-January)


Threave – garden & estate open Thursday–Monday (closed 25 Dec–28 Jan, then reopens Friday–Sunday)

Edinburgh and the Lothians

House of the Binns – grounds only
Due to Tier 4 restrictions, the grounds will be open to local visitors only from Saturday 21 Nov until Friday 11 Dec

Pollok House – garden & country park daily; tearoom daily; upper house & shop Thursday–Monday (all closed 25 & 26 Dec and 31 Dec–2 Jan)
Due to Tier 4 restrictions, closed from Saturday 21 Nov until Friday 11 Dec (the café will continue to offer a takeaway service to local visitors)
