Culzean Castle: the ultimate wedding venue

Towering over the Firth of Clyde, magnificent Culzean Castle is surrounded by formal gardens, tranquil woodland, sandy beaches and secret follies. With so many settings to choose from, both inside the castle and around the grounds, whatever your dream wedding looks like – simple or grand; traditional or modern; religious, civil or humanist – you’ll find something here to suit your style.
Make yourself at home in the castle

No expense was spared in Culzean’s creation. Designed for the 10th Earl of Cassillis as a flamboyant show of status, the castle even has its own viaduct – a spectacular way for you and your guests to make a grand entrance.

Inside the castle there’s a variety of decadent spaces that are perfect for religious, civil and humanist ceremonies. You can enjoy panoramic sea views from the spectacular Round Drawing Room, take exclusive use of the Eisenhower Apartment and treat your guests like VIPs, or say your ‘I do’ vows at the top of the spectacular Oval Staircase. The keys to the castle are yours.
See your big day go down in history

The Kennedy family, for whom Culzean Castle was built, are one of the oldest clans in Scotland, with an ancestry that can be traced back to Robert the Bruce. So why not immerse your guests in the history of this amazing property, and celebrate some of Scotland’s great stories and traditions?
Welcome your guests in the Armoury, with its world-famous collection of old pistols and swords, hold your ceremony in the Round Drawing Room, then lead everyone to the ornate State Dining Room, adorned with historical family portraits, for a lavish wedding breakfast. Of course, a Scottish wedding wouldn’t be complete without a ceilidh, so make sure your guests follow the leader down to the Stone Barn for drinking and dancing!

Seek out some hidden gems

Stashed away around the castle’s grounds you can find some ‘secret’ spots that are perfect for traditional and non-traditional weddings alike.
The Camellia House is a delightful Victorian folly built of stone and glass – with the sun shining in and the garden in full bloom, there’s no better place for an intimate ceremony. You can also host a handful of guests in the Orangery, which once supplied the castle with exotic fruit and flowers. Who wouldn’t want to say their vows surrounded by citrus trees and blossoming buds?
Everyone’s welcome on the luxurious lawns

Guest lists have a habit of growing longer and longer! Thankfully, if you’ve outgrown the castle then you can still make the most of this special place with a marquee on the lawn.
There are plenty of gorgeous green spaces to choose from, from the West Green, with super views out to the Isle of Arran, to the Fountain Court, where you can add a touch of tropical style to your big day thanks to the colourful flowerbeds and palm trees that frame the pristine lawn.
Your wedding, your choice …

On top of all the covered spaces, you’ve also got hundreds of acres of parks, woodland and beaches to play with. If you choose to tie the knot in the open air you can open up a whole new world of wedding possibilities – the only limit is your imagination!
Thanks to all the Trust’s hard work, and your support, the castle and its grounds are open to everyone, all year round. There’s so much romance and inspiration, and so many wonderful wedding options to choose from, that we’re happy to call Culzean Castle our perfect wedding venue.
