Depicting the iconic west elevation of the famous Hill House, this brooch is a celebration of the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. This stunning silver brooch is a contemporary piece of jewellery designed exclusively for the National Trust for Scotland by Paula Bolton, inspired by the exterior of the building.
Mackintosh was arguably Scotland’s most famous architect and designer. The Hill House, built in the early 1900s, stands as a remarkably complete example of his unique vision. The National Trust for Scotland have restored the building to its former glory, but the external render of the property has not proved watertight.
With the walls gradually become saturated and beginning to crumble, and water threatening the interior, the National Trust for Scotland have embarked on an ambitious project. The Hill House Box project will save the Hill House so it can be enjoyed for many more generations to come.
