Educational membership

Educational membership of the National Trust for Scotland gives schools free unlimited entry to Trust places* during term-time for a whole year.

*At Culloden and The Battle of Bannockburn, we offer a reduced charge for educational members (instead of free entry).

Educational members benefit from reduced charges for a wide range of special educational events and activities, and receive free copies of the Trust’s members’ magazine. By becoming a member, your school helps to protect Scotland’s built and natural heritage for learners today and in the future.

Membership rates are on a sliding scale, meaning that small schools can afford to join too. It’s the most cost-effective way for many schools to visit our places, especially if you plan to make two or more visits within a year.

Please note that Educational Membership can only be used in the National Trust for Scotland’s properties, and only grants access Monday–Friday, during the Scottish term time.

  • One card admits up to 60 students/pupils and 6 teachers/leaders to properties of the National Trust for Scotland during the Scottish academic school term time only.
  • Admission to properties of the National Trust for Scotland is on weekdays only.
  • Membership grants free or reduced entry, at the property’s discretion.
  • Each visit must be booked in advance with the property administrator.
  • Property managers reserve the right to limit numbers and refuse admission to non-booked parties.
  • Leaders are encouraged to visit a property to prepare themselves for a group visit.
  • These leaders (but not their families) are entitled to free entry on this preliminary visit on production of their Educational Membership card.
