St Abb's Music Project 2011-13

The Trust has been working alongside the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Youth Music Initiative, Scottish Borders Council (Arts Development Team) and Sound and Music, on the St Abbs Music Project.

The project is part of pARTicipate - a Trust learning initiative which seeks to engage people with our conservation work through the arts. The project began in May 2011 with pupils from Coldingham Primary School and Eyemouth Primary School (both situated near St Abbs) creating Sonic Postcards.

The St Abbs Music Project continued through the autumn of 2011 with composer Howard Moody working with local people, along with Trust staff and SCO Connect, to develop a musical composition based around St Abbs. This new composition celebrates the uniqueness of St Abbs, with its coastal and marine nature reserves, and formed part of the SCO's South of Scotland Tour in 2012.

Visual artist Sarah Riseborough also contributed to the project through the production of a short film.
