Stonemason's Apprenticeship   Many people enjoy taking tea at our properties on a day out, including the donor of a very kind legacy left to develop our catering facilities. This was put to good use at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum where the donor’s generous gift was put towards building a top class tearoom now enjoyed by thousands of visitors every year.   Gardens

The stunning houses and castles in our care are maintained to the highest standard possible, often using techniques and skills from traditional occupations now rare in the modern world. That is why a very thoughtful gift was left to the Trust to fund a stonemason apprenticeship scheme, a life changing experience for a group of young people which also helps the Trust to maintain many of the historic properties in its care.

RBBM    For many people a trip to an idyllic garden on a sunny day is the ideal way to enjoy the Scottish summer. A generous donation was made to Branklyn Gardens in Perth in the form of an endowment, which will make a real difference in allowing the Garden to become self-sustaining.

   Generosity from abroad
   No matter the size...
Pine Marten   Many Scots who have emigrated remember the Trust. In the last few years several million pounds have been donated to the Trust from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France and Holland. A sizeable number of gifts also come from people who have enjoyed visiting Scotland on family holidays. Every penny of these donations has gone directly into conservation and development projects like those above.   Culzean

Scotland has world class natural heritage, and donations have played a vital role in helping the Trust support and protect this resource. Numerous passionate individuals have left or pledged bequests to help the Trust buy, or maintain wild land, or to conserve some of Scotland’s most iconic wildlife habitats and species, including helping to save rare alpine plants on Ben Lawers or protecting the vital seabird colonies of St Kilda.

Bequests from abroad    Each year we receive many small unrestricted legacies and donations which amount to a significant sum. This in turn helps fund our conservation work at over 130 properties, from dramatic Munros to castles such as Culzean, when the need arises.
