When are you open over the festive period?

During the festive period our head office will be closed from midday on Friday 22 December until 9am on Wednesday 3 January. Below are some frequently asked questions which should help answer any queries you may have. Alternatively use the contact form and our team will get back to you as soon as possible. When are your properties open over the winter months?

Many of our properties are open all year, and some have reduced hours over the winter months. Check individual property pages for full details of opening times or see the list here.

I’ve ordered a gift membership, when will it arrive?

To ensure delivery in time for Christmas, we recommend placing your order by 11 December. After this date, we will do our best to deliver the membership welcome pack as soon as possible, but please be aware that during the busy festive period it could take a few weeks to arrive. You can download a temporary membership straight away from your MyTrust account so you will have something to hand over on Christmas Day.

Where will the gift membership be delivered to?

You can choose whether the membership welcome pack is sent to you or directly to the person you are buying the gift for.

When will a gift membership start and expire?

Memberships will start right away, and a temporary membership card will be available online ready for use immediately. Any memberships purchased in December will be valid until 31 December 2018.

When will my membership cards arrive?

We aim to have your membership welcome pack delivered within 15 working days. You can start using your membership immediately by downloading a temporary membership card from your MyTrust account.

What does membership give me access to?

With a National Trust for Scotland membership you have unlimited access to all of the places in our care. You can also use your membership to explore places cared for by the National Trust in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, as well as other National Trust organisations around the world. Some restrictions do apply, so please check with the specific property before visiting to avoid disappointment.

How do I renew my membership?

If you pay for your membership via direct debit your renewal will occur automatically. We will write to you 10 working days before your renewal is due to remind you.

If you pay for your membership as a one-off annual payment we will write to you 10 days before your renewal is due with a payment form and pre-paid envelope. Alternatively, you can call us at any time on 0131 458 0200. 

How can I cancel my membership?

We’d be sorry to see you leave, but to cancel your membership please call 0131 458 0200 or email information@nts.org.uk with your membership number. 

Why do you scan my membership card at properties?

To help build a personalised experience for you, and enhance the fulfilment of our charitable purpose, the barcode on your card will register which properties you have visited. For further details on how your information is used, please visit our membership terms and conditions.

How do I order a replacement membership card?

To order a replacement membership card please call 0131 458 0200 or use our contact form online, supplying your name, address and membership number. 

If I am a member, can I visit properties without my membership card?

Unfortunately, without your membership card you may be asked to pay an admission fee. Please remember to bring your membership card or temporary membership card with you every time you visit.
