Medieval Moments at Drum Castle

Drum Castle’s annual Medieval Moments workshop offers a glimpse of what life was like in the middle ages to school pupils. Aimed at the P4-P7 age group, the two-day learning event is comprised of a series of workshops that provide participants with various learning experiences: Pupils can dress up in medieval attire as Sir Michael, our costumed interpreter, demonstrates how knights fought and dressed using weapons and clothes; the Brewhouse Cellar is turned into a multi-sensory experience as the Gardens Team explain how dyes were created in the middle ages as pupils get to work with natural dyes and quill pens; heraldry is discussed in the art tent before participants create their own heraldic shield to take home; and our experienced guides provide a tour of the interior of the Castle.
