Interpretation

The Interpretation team consists of the Head of Learning & Interpretation, Interpretation Project Managers and Interpretive Designers. The team is responsible for developing, planning, commissioning and project managing a wide range of interpretative media for the historic sites within our care.

What is Interpretation?

Interpretation is about communicating a story or an idea - and creating an understanding of places, events, collections and people.

Interpretation should connect us with our environment and provide memorable experiences. It makes a visit to a property meaningful and enjoyable for visitors of all ages and interests.

It is also a core task of Interpretation to tell our visitors about our contemporary community – how the actions of today shape our nation's collective legacy.
