The Decay Process

It can be hard to envisage what archaeologists mean when they find 'lumps and bumps' in the landscape and then describe what might have been there in earlier times.

This series of photographs shows how a cottage at Cuiltrannich, Ben Lawers, disintegrated over a number of years. At some point in the future, the cottage will become a pile of stones under the grass - just lumps and bumps.
