Scipio Kennedy - Later Research

1. Further research about Scipio Kennedy and his wife has been undertaken by Professor Michael Moss and is included in his excellent book The Magnificent Castle of Culzean and the Kennedy Family (2002)

2. Map research, undertaken by the NTS archaeologist Derek Alexander, revealed that Scipio’s home may have been situated nearer to the present Camellia House. An archaeological dig was undertaken in 2007 to search for evidence of Scipio’s house. Excavations within this area are difficult since it is covered with trees and bushes (as well as, of course, the Camellia House). No archaeological evidence has been uncovered so far.

3. Recently, a possible descendant of Scipio has been discovered. An article appeared in Scotland on Sunday in May 2012.
