  • The National Trust for Scotland is the largest Ranger employer in Scotland
  • We have Ranger Services based on St Kilda in the far North West to Aberdeenshire properties in the North East and from Culzean Country Park in the South West to St Abbs & Eyemouth Voluntary Marine Reserve in the South East, and many in between!
  • Helping visitors to understand the wildlife and countryside around them is a major focus of our Rangers.

Our staff of 45 full time and seasonal rangers offer over 500 guided walks a year and introduce some 20,000 schoolchildren to the great outdoors. In addition, we develop interpretive displays and guidebooks for a wider audience.

All this work is designed to pass on the wonderful natural heritage and landscapes in the Trust's care in good condition.

The National Trust for Scotland was one of the first pioneers in establishing Ranger Services in Scotland and ran the first training programme for Rangers.

We get many enquiries relating to career progression so we've created a pdf of advice and tips for embarking on a career as a Ranger or Naturalist
