Community Outreach - Families

The Community Outreach Team helps individuals and families to engage with the natural world, which helps create health and wellbeing within everyone and expands their understanding of the natural world.

We are working to open the outdoors for exploration by families through our Natural Connections family events programme focused on natural play and Citizen Science.

Natural Connections Play

Natural Connections Play events will support both parent and child to learn skills to support active play and healthy lifestyles, giving them the skills to plan, prepare for and enjoy the outdoors. These events help parents connect with nature; to test and expand their interests and abilities; to make their own explorations and discoveries; to play without undue adult involvement; to interact, make change and transform their surroundings.

Natural Connections Learn

The Natural Connections Learn events have been developed to be a fun way to get people exploring natural spaces and discovering wildlife. It’s a chance for a family to become a wildlife explorer and discover what’s living around you. It’s just like a real scientific expedition, everything we find will be documented on the National Trusts for Scotland’s Wildlife surveying site with the information being verified and shared with the National Biodiversity Network (NBN). The events will give families the skills to explore the natural world and record wildlife
