The Trust encourages academic institutions to undertake research on our properties, particularly where this will assist with their management. One of the longest-running research programmes has been the study of the feral population of Soay sheep on St Kilda where staff of several universities have been carrying out research for over 20 years www.kilda.org.uk. At Mar Lodge Estate we work with researchers from a number of local organisations, including the Macaulay Institute, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology and Aberdeen University to study the fascinating ecology of the estate.

We would welcome suggestions of further research on our properties and would encourage those interested to contact either the appropriate property manager or Richard Luxmoore, the Senior Nature Conservation Adviser luxmoore@nts.org.uk.
