We've been collating all of the nominations for the National Trust for Scotland's Diamond Jubilee Awards, and the results are in....

This year, there is a double celebration in June as Volunteers’ Week falls on the same date as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. In recognition of these events, the National Trust for Scotland has decided to create its own Awards to honour the significant achievements of its volunteers in this special year.

We have searched high and low throughout the Trust - including our historic houses, offices and gardens, the countryside and Members’ Centres - for those volunteers who deserve to be recognised. The nominees have all made a difference, whether they have volunteered for a few months or for almost 40 years, whether their contribution is their consistency or their unusual talents, and it has been fascinating, enjoyable and humbling to read the citations provided.

86 volunteers - one for every year of the Queen’s life - have been honoured with a Diamond Jubilee Award. Recipients will be invited to a special ‘garden party’ themed event to be held on Thursday 27th September 2012, where they will be presented with a special Diamond Jubilee Certificate by the Trust’s Chairman, Sir Kenneth Calman.
A range of awards will be presented at the event:
- Diamond Jubilee Award (including a special First Class Honours category)
- Joint Honours (for volunteering couples)
- Diamond Cluster Awards (for group volunteering)
- One individual Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented

May we also take this opportunity to thank all those who took the time to provide nominations and citations for the Awards, without whom it would be impossible to recognise our 'Diamond' volunteers.
