Description
The National Trust for Scotland is looking for an enthusiastic Project Officer to carry out audience research regarding use of museum web resources and to work with staff members and consultants to create innovative online resources for the brand new Robert Burns Birthplace Museum expected to open to the public in late 2010.

The National Trust for Scotland has received special funding from Museums Galleries Scotland for a 12 month project to promote access to the Recognised collection held by Robert Burns Birthplace Museum (RBBM). To Your Mouse: Burns Birthplace Online aims to find out what users (and non-users) of museum websites want and to create resources which meet these needs. Central to the project will be the setting-up of a collections database which will be designed in response to the findings of the user (and non-user) research.

To be successful in this post you will have a genuine interest in people and how they use websites and collections databases, combined with demonstrable working knowledge of collections management systems and operating databases, especially MS Access and Adlib. You will be a strong team-player, but equally able to work on your own initiative and have demonstrate excellent interpersonal, time management and organisational skills. Although not essential, a Museums Studies qualification and/or experience of working in a museums environment and demonstrable experience of working on user surveys and focus groups are desirable.
