7-Day Tour
Day 1 (Edinburgh)
- AM Arrive in Edinburgh.
- PM Visit to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal
Mile in the heart of the Old Town, to take in the wonderful
history and architecture of this world-famous location.
Day 2 (Fife)
- 10.30 Guided tour of Falkland
Palace, country retreat of the royal Stuarts, including
the famous Mary, Queen of Scots. Enjoy a cream tea in the marquee
(1 Jun-31 Aug).
- 14.00 Guided tour of the fascinating 16th
century Culross Palace,
situated on the north shores of the Firth of Forth.
- 16.00 Return to Edinburgh.
Day 3 (Stirling)
- 09.30 Travel west to Stirling Castle, birthplace
of generations of Stuart monarchs.
- 13.00 Lunch and tour of Bannockburn
Heritage Centre, site of one of the most famous battles
in Scottish history, a victory for the renowned Robert the Bruce.
- 15.30 Return to Edinburgh
Day 4 (Ayrshire Coast)
- 11.30 Travel south-west from Edinburgh to
Culzean Castle,
a truly unique property, in one of Scotland’s most beautiful
settings.
- 15.00 Return to Edinburgh.
Day 5 (Dumfries & Galloway)
- 11.30 Spend a wonderful day at Threave
House & Garden, with its beautiful shows of colour all
year round.
- 15.00 Return to Edinburgh.
- 20.00 Reception or period dinner at The
Georgian House, Charlotte Square, part of Robert Adam’s
masterpiece of urban design.
Day 6 (Aberdeenshire)
- AM Travel to Aberdeen.
- 12.30 Lunch and tour of Castle
Fraser, one of the grandest Castles
of Mar.
- 15.30 Visit to Fyvie
Castle, a fine example of Scottish Baronial architecture,
with impressive collections of paintings and armoury.
- 18.00 Private tour and dinner at Haddo
House, a stunning example of Georgian architecture with
sumptuous Victorian interiors.
Day 7 (Aberdeenshire)
- Morning visit to Balmoral Castle (open April
- July), Scottish country residence of the royal family.
- 12.30 Lunch and visit to Crathes
Castle, a picturesque château-style 16th-century tower
house with beautiful interiors.
- 15.30 Guided tour of nearby Drum
Castle, complete with medieval tower and battlements.
