Training and Careers

The National Trust for Scotland cares for some of the most important Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland. Our gardeners are highly respected for the commitment and sensitivity that they give to the management of our gardens which attract so many visitors each year.

Since 1961 the School of Heritage Gardening has been training future generations of gardeners in the fine traditions of Scottish Gardening covering the varied styles and locations that cover the Scottish Landscape.

Download the Course Information & Application Pack. We provide up to 12 funded placements each year as well as a range of voluntary internships. Since 2012 the National Trust for Scotland has been working in partnership with Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) to provide a 4 year Diploma course.
