Broadleaved woodland, wildflower meadows and heather-topped rocky outcrops provide a range of wildlife habitats. Spring offers a stunning display of bluebells, with warblers and other birds arriving to breed. In summer, a diversity of butterflies brings colour to the meadows. As the autumn colours appear, the swallows depart and wildfowl numbers begin to build. And the harsh winter months see large numbers of ducks and waders congregating in Rough Firth.
