    Surrounded by natural Christmas trees and twinkling lights, children will meet Santa himself. Kids to the grotto will have the chance to take a photo with Santa and receive a wee stocking filler. £4.50 per child for Santa’s Grotto if booked in advance, £5 at the door. Adults go for free! FREE entry to Newhailes Visitor Centre

    - Check in at the Visitor Centre reception desk for entry to Santa’s Grotto - Entry is based on time slots within a 30min entry window - When you arrive you will be given a number for your specific slot - Walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows, we encourage everyone to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid disappointment

    This magical fairy tour, for the whole family, will take you inside Newhailes House for an unforgettable Christmas adventure full of stories, wonder and crafts.

    The fairies of Newhailes are a very special type, they were blown in on the tide and as soon as they landed they fell in love with the place. They met the white witch who protects the land and puts the magical and natural creatures to sleep for the winter. This year however Jack Frost who is very naughty woke the fairies up. The white witch called for the Pathfinder to guide the fairies to a special place where fairy beds have been set up to help them sleep. The Pathfinder needs your help to guide the fairies to the path that will lead them to a safe and warm place to sleep!

    • £5.50 child, £2.50 adult • The tour will last 1hr 15min • Suitable for all ages, children must be accompanied by an adult • Baby carriers are suggested; as buggies are not permitted inside the house (there will be a place to park your buggies) • Tours begin at the House; please arrive no later than 10 minutes before the start of the tour.

All materials (wreath forms, pins, wire, etc.) will be provided, including an abundance of natural materials. The wreath is yours to take home and a great way to get you in the festive mood.     Join us this Christmas season for two weekends of festive fun for all ages. Newhailes’ Courtyard will be awash with musical sounds of carols, brass bands and solo performances filling you with festive joy. Our café will be well stocked with fresh baked seasonal treats – with a good selection of allergen free cakes and traybakes. Make some festive crafts. Be sure to book a space to visit Santa’s Grotto and bring your Christmas Wish List with you! Help the fairies find their beds on our Winter Wonderland Trail. The Pathfinder needs your help to guide the fairies to the path that will lead them to a safe warm place to sleep. This is a fun workshop for the whole family. Get creative and attend one of our workshops that will teach you how to make your very own Christmas Wreath or Centrepieces using Newhailes foliage. Finally pick up a lovely Christmas gift for a loved one or something special for yourself. Give the gift of a Lifetime of Adventure by purchasing a gift membership - and receive complimentary tea/coffee and cake for yourself and the recipient.

Discover 300 years of Scottish history through this magnificent and carefully conserved neo-Palladian villa. Newhailes is famed for having some of the finest rococo interiors in Scotland.

There are sumptuous decorative details at every turn, from the gilded eagles over the drawing room windows to the exquisite Chinese wallpaper and imposing Italian marble fireplaces.

A major part of the house’s charm is its mellow feel. Newhailes has been allowed to grow old gracefully through a pioneering conservation policy which does ‘as much as is necessary, but as little as possible’ to keep the house in good order without disturbing its ‘untouched’ atmosphere.
