Learn about the history of Mar Lodge Estate on a walk in the grounds of the Lodge and along the River Dee, with an opportunity to view the interior of the Stag Ballroom adorned with the Duke of Fife's antler collection.

Bio-buzz - Clais FhearnaigMar Lodge EstateSat 22 JunA moderate but long walk over heather moor with great views of the Cairngorm plateau.
After an easy climb onto the moor we'll descend into the gash ('clais') left by glacial action and walk along the man-made lochans there, enjoying the wildlife before further descending into Glen Lui and returning through ancient pine woods.
Walking will be on rough (and sometimes slippery) track and path; good walking boots essential.

Ant AnticsMar Lodge EstateSat 29 JunA short walk with our Ecologists to learn about wood ants and have a look at their nests.
As well as the more common wood ant, you may also see the rare Narrow-Headed Ant.

Walk the Lairig an LaoighMar Lodge EstateSat 20 JulA full day's guided walk through an iconic Cairngorms high mountain pass.
Traverse the Cairngorms through the 'Pass of the Calves', amid magnificent scenery, led by a qualified Mountain Leader. Good walking boots and warm waterproof clothing essential. Bring plenty of food and drinks. Transport back to Mar Lodge included.
This walk involves an ascent of rough tracks/paths above 800m. A good level of fitness is required. Sorry, no dogs.

Walk the Lairig GhruMar Lodge EstateSat 10 AugA 20 mile walk through Scotland's most celebrated and perhaps the finest mountain pass, the 'Dark Pass', from the beautiful glens of Deeside to the ancient pinewoods of Speyside.
A long strenuous all-day hike along tracks and rough path reaching over 800 metres. General level of fitness needed. Walking boots and warm waterproof clothing essential. Bring plenty of food and drinks. Transport provided back to Mar Lodge at end of the day. Places limited, so book early.

An easy walk into this beautiful glen. Learn about the past land uses and see how they have shaped the landscape. We'll look at the ruins of some old 15th century townships and imagine what life might have been like for the people of that time.
The walk into the glen will be on good track, but walking around the ruins will be rough ground.

Carn-nal KnowledgeMar Lodge EstateSun 25 AugA high level walk taking in one of the Estate's Corbetts (mountains between 2500 and 3000 feet high).
A gradual climb by path and rough moorland to the summit of Carn na Criche, then on to the Corbett of Carn na Drochaide with fine views of Glen Quoich and beyond.

Mar Lodge Open DayMar Lodge EstateSun 8 SepA rare opportunity to view the state rooms of the Lodge, once the residence of the Duke of Fife and Princess Louise, and the magnificent Ballroom containing almost 2500 stags heads.
Usually closed to the public, this is a great opportunity to see inside the Lodge and learn more about its history and the current management of the Estate.
Displays, fun activities and tea/coffee available.

The Lodge is not generally open to the public, except on the Open Days held during the summer.
