Glenfinnan Monument

Getting here

Glenfinnan Monument is at Glenfinnan, 18½ miles west of Fort William on the A830.
Address Glenfinnan Monument Glenfinnan PH37 4LT

Glenfinnan Visitor Centre can be reached by car following the A830 from Fort William or Mallaig.

If our car park is full, try the adjacent community car park. If there are no spaces there, please try again later or visit another day. Please do not park on roadside verges, pavements or driveways. Traffic police monitor the area regularly, and vehicles parked illegally may be towed away.

Buses from Fort William run daily and stop in the village.

ScotRail train services stop at Glenfinnan railway station – a 1km walk (approx. 15 minutes) will then take you along a pavement to the visitor centre, located at the edge of the village. Alternatively, you can walk 2km to the visitor centre (approx. 40 minutes) via the Glenfinnan Viaduct footpath.

Planning your visit

If you plan to see the Jacobite ‘Hogwarts Express’ steam train, we recommend allowing plenty of time to get parked to avoid disappointment – the car park is closed when full, for safety reasons.

Please note that under-18s must be accompanied by an adult if climbing the monument.

View some of the terrain at Glenfinnan Monument in advance of your visit using this Google Street View.

Please see our drop-down Facilities below for helpful information about planning your visit. For more information about planning your visit please see our frequently asked questions.
