Diamond Jubilee Garden Party Strawberry Teas

Diamond Jubilee Garden Party Strawberry Teas

Brodie Castle
Sat 2 Jun

To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee join us for a delicious strawberry tea with entertainment by The Truly Terrible Orchestra and Tony Baxter.

more details »
An afternoon of light hearted fun with The Truly Terrible Orchestra - a group of 'lapsed' amateur musicians based around the Inverness/Moray Firth area, who enjoyed playing music earlier in life (usually at school) and have decided to dust off their instruments and get playing again. As the name suggests, their attitude to music-making is very relaxed and always about having a laugh! The

Orchestra was founded in 2006 by Anni Cole-Hamilton and musical director Jon Hall who conducts the group with great skill, humour and endless patience.

They will be performing a varied selection of music, especially from the last 60 years, as well as a few patriotic pieces. Joining them with interval entertainment, Tony Baxter returns with popular hit songs from the 50's onwards. Please note - Brodie Castle will be open on Saturday 2 June.

Our younger visitors can enjoy making their own crowns and masks at the craft table. No tickets necessary, entry is by donation.

Jousting Tournament with The Knights of the Damned 1

Brodie Castle
Sun 1 Jul

Led by TV and film stuntman, Justin Pearson, Britain’s premier Medieval Jousting stunt team, the Knights of the Damned, perform a display boasting high speed action, skilful mounted knights and a fantastic colourful spectacle for all the family. Cheer for your favourite knight

more details »
The Knights provide a medieval show full of exciting stunts and horsemanship. They have performed at major venues throughout Britain and Europe since 1990 and are also professional stuntmen, featuring in such films as the Wrath of the Titans, Pirates of the Caribbean 4 and the new James Bond movie, Skyfall.

The show includes spectacular action, galloping horses, stunts, falls, awesome fire weapons, professional commentary and music that will leave you truly breathless!

After the shows are over children get the chance to visit the Knights area to meet the horses and the knights and try on their jousting helms.

Children and adults alike can meet members of the re-enactment group Battlefield Highland at the jousting field. Dressed in costumes from the era of Robert the Bruce and Bannockburn, they will be available for photo-shoots. They enjoy interacting with the public and will be happy to relate some of the horrible histories of medieval times.

Test your skill at “Have-a-go” archery with members of Moray Archery club. See who can hit the bull’s eye. Suitable for complete novices from 8 years upwards. Children should be accompanied by an adult. No upper age limit, you’re never too old to have fun!

Adding to the atmosphere of the day will be a display by the Birds of Prey Rescue Centre. As a registered charity operating near Inverness for over 25 years, the centre frequently cares for birds rescued by the SSPCA.

Jousting tournaments take place at 12.30pm and 2.30pm. The bird of prey display includes eagle owls; please keep your dogs on a lead and away from the birds. Gates will open 45 minutes before each performance.

Private Lives

Private Lives

Brodie Castle
Tue 31 Jul

Set in the 1930's, this fast paced Noel Coward comedy is considered to be Coward's most brilliant play.

more details »
It’s the 1930s and the cocktails are flowing... but will it be a Smooth Move or Whiskey Sour for Elyot and Amanda?

Divorced couple Elyot and Amanda are inadvertently reunited on their respective honeymoons to second spouses. Believing themselves still in love, they abandon their new partners and run off but it’s not long before the champagne bubbles burst and they are back to the arguments – more bitter than angostura - that plagued their tempestuous marriage.

Irreverent, hilarious and sophisticated, Private Lives overflows with Noel Coward’s celebrated eccentric wit and skilful comedic staging and, his glamorous, aristocratic characters seem incapable of taking much of anything seriously for long — a condition which proves contagious for the audience!

Moving from misfortune to full-blown absurdity, this fast-paced comedy proves to be the perfect recipe for a stylish evening’s entertainment that combines all the bubbles and froth with the depth and complexities of a vintage champagne.

Please dress warmly and bring your own seating/rug for this outdoor performance. Refreshments will be available, though you are welcome to bring a picnic if you wish. Gates open at6.00pm, for a 7.00pm start.
