King of Alba for 17 prosperous years one thousand years ago, Macbeth was never Thane of Glamis nor of Cawdor. He owed his kingship to rightful claim, not witches prophecy.

Cameron Taylor is co-author of On the Trail of the Real Macbeth. An Orcadian, he studied history at Aberdeen University and moved to Forres in 2006 where he became fascinated by the differences between the life and times of the real Macbeth and the tragic story woven by Shakespeare.
