Traditional ceremonies can take place on anniversary of Bannockburn
The National Trust for Scotland is holding its annual re-enactment of the Battle of Bannockburn on 23 and 24 June with the aim of engaging around 10,000 visitors in the history of this important site in a fun and enjoyable way.
As with any event of this nature, where visitors pay for entry in support of the Trust’s conservation work, access to the site is temporarily limited.
However, the Trust is aware that a small number of people have traditionally held ceremonies on the battle site, normally on the same day as the Scottish National Party rally, which this year is being held on 16 June. In order to ensure that these traditions are respected, we have invited those wishing to lay wreaths and hold ceremonies to contact our Property Manager Alison Corley to arrange this for either before 12:00 or after 5pm on 23 June.
The Trust is keen to ensure that everyone can enjoy the anniversary of Bannockburn and will continue to work with all concerned to make this happen.
