Daily tours of the Bannockburn Heritage Centre and Battlefield with costumed characters and lots of other activities for the whole family to enjoy. More>
Discover what life for Robert the Bruce was really like!
Learn about medieval society and find out how people of the era lived and fought for independence. Examine replica medieval clothing, armour, weaponry and siege equipment.
Interview a medieval knight or foot soldier from the time, or come face-to-face with Robert the Bruce.
Let one of our experienced costumed guides escort you around the Borestone and explain the events of the Battle of Bannockburn.
Special events include a chance to meet the experts - chat to our resident Medieval historian and author Dr Chris Brown (dates to be confirmed).
Please note that activities vary daily.

Flowers of Falkland

Garden tour & flower arrangement demonstration at the Palace Gardens. More>
In celebration of Percy Cane Gardens at Falkland Palace 60th Anniversary, an event has been organised to enjoy the garden flowers.
The event will start with a garden tour, led by the Head Gardener, where visitors will able to learn about Falkland Gardens and flowers.
This will be followed by a flower arrangement demonstration & lecture given by Ann Monroe, using flowers from the gardens for her arrangements.
The arrangements will be inspired by the garden's history, from 1451 (the date of the first gardens and gardener's records) through 1948 (the creation of the Percy Cane Pleasure Gardens), to the present.
Refreshments will be served during the interval.

Bannockburn Battlefield Walk

Come along for this free event, running as part of Scottish archaeology month. More>
The walk starts and ends at Bannockburn Heritage Centre car park, and covers three sites associated with the Battle of Bannockburn.
The walk is approximately seven miles long and follows country paths, which can be muddy - stout footwear and waterproof clothing is recommended. Participants should be aged 12+. Dogs welcome.
Admission to the exhibition centre is not included in the event.
The walk will be led by Evelyn Wilson, Learning Officer for Bannockburn Heritage Centre and Alloa Tower.

Sealed Knot Attack on Falkland Palace

Sealed knot is a living camp from the 17th century, you can see how the soldiers lived while preparing to battle, followed by a battle re-enactment. More>
There will be a 17th Century battle re-enactment, skarvage, period cooking, and you can learn about period clothing, herbs and their medicinal uses, weapons and battle strategies.
The Sealed Knot helps bring history alive every year at period houses throughout the country, and you can talk to major historical figures, try out a few recipes, learn about the life of a soldier on the march and maybe even "take the King's shilling".
What better way to teach children about the period than with a little "hands-on" experience.

Celebrating My Garden

Youngsters are called to be arty. An Art competition for primary schools has been organised at Falkland Palace. More>
Pupils are called to entry a painting, drawing, collage or other medium which reflects the gardens that Mary Queen of Scotts would have enjoyed.
All entries will be exhibited in the Town Hall on Satruday 25 and Sunday 26 October. Entries must be submitted by 1 October.

There are three categories Primary 1-2-3 / 4-5 / 6-7. There will be an individual prize
per group and a school prize for best exhibit.
